inspirational quotes for difficult times

We all face challenges in our lives. It may have been affected by a natural disaster, lost his job or home due to economic conditions, suffered a health crisis, loss of a loved one or ended a relationship.

When life gets tough, try to remember and live by these three inspirational quotes.

1. I only give what I can handle

“I know God will not give me anything I can not handle I just wish not trust me so much ..” – Mother Teresa

This belief helps me stay grounded and the relative calm when it seems everything is falling apart. It changes the focus to something more constructive – that somehow this challenge will help me grow and serve my life (and who touch me) in the long term. Otherwise, it would be easy to fall into a victim mode of thinking, being and acting.

I adopted this belief in my teenage years and only recently read the entire quote from Mother Teresa. While the last part I think it’s funny, I wonder what he felt when he said it.

2. Looking for the gift

“Amid all the difficulties lies opportunity.” – Albert Einstein

When faced with a difficult situation, try to remember to ask – what is great about this? (That is, use any word you want. Where is the good in all this? What is the jewel or learning? Etc)

This changes my approach to looking at all the possible negative consequences that may or may not happen to see the gift of the situation. It gives me the power to remain calm and seek solutions.

3. Will you be a victim or a victor?

“In my darkest hours I had to make a decision that could be a victim or a victor ..” – Wynonna Judd on Oprah

No matter what happens in our lives, we can choose how to respond. We can choose our attitude. We can choose to feel sorry for ourselves and be a victim or you can choose to overcome.

Years ago I had to have a dental procedure and I felt very stressed. Then it hit me – the procedure was going to happen regardless of how I felt. He could choose to feel anxious and crazy I need or the procedure or I could choose to relax. I choose the latter and made a big difference.

No matter what challenge we face is not necessary to solve alone. Finding someone who can talk to for emotional support and strategic. As a species we are very resourceful and can find a way. You can too.
