true blood episode guide

What it is:
For those of you unfamiliar, True Blood is an HBO series based on a series of books called The Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris Southern. The book and the series follows an alternate reality where vampires are not only real, but after the invention of synthetic blood, vampires have come out of the closet, some who want to live a normal life. The series takes place in the small town of Bon Temps, Louisiana and follows the main character, Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic waitress who is attracted residents of the new city of vampires, since it is the only person in the city, whose mind can read.

The good:
The southern town of Bon Temps provides a fun backdrop for this story. Remove the vampires, and you still have a city full of colorful characters, a shifter, exorcisms and other strange goings on. I am also excited about the premise of the story with the idea of vampires fighting for equal rights and some even incorporation.

The bad:
Despite a fascinating premise and a cool backdrop of history, the season is still too much based on family reasons. The Sookie-Bill-Sam love triangle sounded a little too close to the stage by Edward-Bella-Jacob in Twilight. Sookie occasionally comes off as a bit flighty as she bounces between Sam and Bill’s attention and to be honest, the first season, I never saw any reason to care about Sookie and Bill’s relationship apart from the fact that according to the script, “which is supposed to be together.”

The vampires in the series were a little uninterested in the first half of the season. Or wanted to reform and thus were completely deaf, like Bill, or were stuck in a seventies or goth version of a vampire. The layout of the final pair of episodes was a bit too typical of Hollywood for a program that clearly is not typical, especially the chase scene between Sookie and the real murderer.

Sex:
Hmm, anyone who watches this show knows that the sex scenes can be surprisingly off the table, even for HBO. Most, of course, appear to occur among residents sex maniac Jason Stackhouse, and thus, women mostly end up dead later. Although I favor amplified up the sex scenes, this is a story of vampires in the south, after all, is sometimes a bit annoying.

Characters we love:
The town of Bon Temps, full of eccentric characters worth watching. Jason Stackhouse is a character that was on the fence, but lets face it, he is so stupid it makes the show entertaining, his girlfriend Amy was too brief a character swings wildly entertaining while being the son of the flowers of psychotic junkie , despite only being on the show a few episodes, you have to love the way the Great Sookie first thing Bill wanted to know was about the Civil War, Sam Merlotte, obviously, has its secrets, even now the largest is known as Sookie, is will be interesting to see what else is there, others I’m enjoying Bon Temps residents are Arlene, Detective Andy’s best friend, Sookie, Tara and their mouth and questions of parents put her in more trouble than any Lafeyette else and, gay cousin Tara is far too great character in the small town of Bon Temps. I’m loving vampires are Eric, the owner of Fangtasia, his assistant, Pam, and Jessica recently made vampire, Bill “daughter.”

We hate the characters:
There are some characters I do not like this show, but it is probably a bad thing when the main characters are on that list. Bill must have a personality. The only thought that seems to have is to protect Sookie. He is not as interesting. Sookie while occasionally sperm sample, but it still feels like damsel-in-distress/love much interest and less like a character in its own right. Even the scene of his first sexual relationship with Bill felt good from a novel by Barbara Cartland ridiculous.

The second season:
Despite not being too impressed with the first season, the second season has some new and interesting things to ponder. First, who or what is Maryann? Secondly, who or what is this new evil like people’s hearts start? I also like the apparent end of the love triangle, with Sam essentially want to leave. Here’s hoping it stays that way.

The appearance of Jessica, now living with Bill, has also become a more comical side of Bill. Who knew recycling? It should also be an interesting role to Sookie that her relationship with Bill, at least seems to have matured a bit as they seem better able to withstand obstacles such as O, for example, your boyfriend kill his uncle perv.

Verdict:
The show seems to be still looking for his feet. The characters are becoming more solid and less like an amalgam of all the stories I’ve read vampire-erotica/horror other. Still I can not help wishing that such a Billy Idol inspired vampire could shoot in the city and change things, but the story seems to be coming together and that’s a start.
